2024 NNPC/SNEPCo National Merit Based University Scholarship Award For Nigerian Undergraduate Students

The Production Company Limited (SNEPCO) and Shell Nigeria Exploration, in collaboration with TotalEnergies Nigeria, Nigerian Agip Exploration, and Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria (Deepwater) Limited, are delighted to announce the 2024 NNPC/SNEPCo National Merit-Based University Scholarship Award.

This prestigious program, conducted under a Production Sharing Contract (PSC) with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), is designed to promote academic excellence and enhance the skills of promising young Nigerians. The scholarship offers a yearly grant to successful candidates, starting from their second year through to the completion of their undergraduate degree.

Eligible students studying National Universities Commission (NUC) accredited courses in Nigerian universities are encouraged to apply electronically for this life-changing opportunity.

Requirements for NNPC/SNEPCo Undergraduate Scholarship

This is a merit-based scholarship, so if you are studying at any University in Nigeria for a FULL-TIME undergraduate program, you should meet the following requirements:

  • First, you need to be a Nigerian citizen.
  • You need to study at a Nigerian University accredited by the NUC and, more importantly, be in your second year (NOTE: It should be full-time study).
  • You need a minimum CGPA grade of 3.5 in a 5. However, if using another graded system, you should have an equivalent grade.¬†
  • You’re not eligible if you have/are receiving any scholarship from related entities within the Oil and Gas industry, National or International.

Female candidates who are interested and qualified for this scholarship are strongly encouraged to apply.

Selection Process

If you’re planning to apply for this program, here are some of the key details regarding the selection process that you should know:

  • Only shortlisted candidates will be informed of examination details.
  • Only qualified applicants will be invited for a monitored computer-based test.
  • You must submit your application through the scholarship portal by the specified deadline.
  • Only the top 10 candidates from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory will be shortlisted for academic verification before the scholarship offer.
  • Candidates who falsify results will be disqualified.
  • Only applicants who meet all criteria will be contacted to receive the scholarship award.
  • To retain the award, scholars must maintain a minimum of 3.5 CGPA per session (on a 5-point scale, or the equivalent in other grading systems).

Here are the essential documents that you will be required to provide:

  1. Recent passport-sized photograph (JPEG, max 200 KB)
  2. Letter of Identification from State of Origin
  3. JAMB or University Admission Letter
  4. O’ Level and ‘A’ Level/OND/NCE Results (as applicable)
  5. UTME Result
  6. Cumulative Grade Point Average after the first year (with results from at least 2 semesters)
  7. Provide a filled and signed Government Official declaration form (download the form  here)

How to Apply

Application Steps:

If you’re already on the application portal, follow these steps to complete your application:

  • Start by clicking on the “Apply Now” tab.
  • Create your account by clicking “Register Now“.
  • An email will be sent to you; use it to activate your account.
  • Return to the Scholarship site and log in with your registered email and password to upload your information.
  • Download the Government Official Declaration Form from here. Correctly fill it out and upload the signed form.

Enter and Upload Required Information:

  • Enter your personal information, National Identification Number, educational details, and other required information.
  • Upload scanned copies of the required documents.
  • Ensure the name on your application matches the names on all documents. If not, upload a certificate or sworn affidavit.
  • Review all uploaded documents to ensure they are clear and accurate.
  • Upload a passport photograph when requested (ensure it has a white background).

Submit Your Application:

  • Recheck all information to avoid errors.
  • Click “Apply Now” to submit your application.
  • You will get a confirmation via SMS and email once your application is successful.

Verification Steps:

  • Log back into SCHOLASTICA with your email and password.
  • Download your profile and take that document to the head of the department to sign.
