2024 PTDF Scholarship Scheme for Undergraduate & Postgraduate Scholars in Nigeria Federal Universities

The PTDF Undergraduate Scholarship offers substantial rewards to support students in their academic journey. Recipients receive a financial award of N500,000 per year to cover various educational expenses. In addition, first-year scholars are provided with a laptop, bringing their total first-year benefit to N625,000. This combination of financial aid and essential technology ensures that students have the resources they need to excel in their studies.

Requirements for PTDF Undergraduate Scholarship

If you fit into the Undergraduate Scholarship category, here are the requirements you need to meet:

  • You must be a full-time student enrolled in any Federal University in Nigeria.
  • You should currently be in your second year (200 level) of study, and your course must be related to the oil and gas industry.
  • Possessing a valid admission letter to the university is mandatory.
  • You must have obtained 5 credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO, including English Language and Mathematics.
  • You need to have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 on a scale of 5 or 3.0 on a scale of 4, which is equivalent to a 2.2 in the first year.
  • You should have completed your first year (two semesters’ examinations) and currently be in your second year of studies.
  • You must provide a transcript for your first year of study, signed and stamped by the Head of Department (HOD), Exams Officer, or any authorized university personnel.

NOTE: It’s important to remember that only undergraduate applicants studying in oil and gas-related fields (as advertised) will be considered for the scholarship. Selection will be based on the grades in your transcripts, which must be signed and stamped by the Head of Department (HOD), Exams Officer, or any authorized university personnel.

Application Documents

Here are the application docs needed to successfully apply for the PTDF undergraduate scholarship program.

  • Evidence of WAEC/SSCE/NECO results with at least 5 credits. It should also include Mathematics and English Language (not more than 2 sittings, with the first sitting result uploaded).
  • An admission letter into the university.
  • First-year academic transcript(s). These transcripts should be duly signed and stamped by the Exams Officer, Head of Department (HOD), or any authorized personnel.
  • A Certificate of indigeneship (evidence of state of origin and Local Government).
  • Personal statement of at least 300 words, explaining your reasons for undertaking your selected course.

Requirements for PTDF Masters Scholarship

To be eligible for the PTDF Masters Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The course of study for the master’s degree must be related to Management and the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Possess a full-time admission letter into any of the Federal Universities.
  • Have obtained a minimum of Second-Class lower (2.2) in an Oil and Gas related field at the undergraduate level.
  • Possess at least 5 credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO results (not more than 2 sittings, with the two results preceding the first degree).
  • Provide a NYSC certificate or Letter of exemption.
  • Submit a Certificate of Indigeneship as evidence of state of origin and Local Government.
  • Include a Personal statement of at least 1000 words, outlining the reasons for undertaking the chosen course of study.

Selection Process for PTDF In-country Scholarship Scheme (ISS) Postgraduate

The selection process for the PTDF In-country Scholarship Scheme (ISS) Postgraduate category involves several criteria and steps:

  • Academic Qualifications: This includes the class of degree, full academic transcripts, any other professional qualifications obtained, and relevant publications referenced by the applicants.
  • Membership of Professional Bodies: Applicants’ membership in professional bodies is considered.
  • Viability of Study/Research Plan: This criterion specifically applies to PhD applicants, assessing the feasibility and potential impact of their study or research plan.
  • Statement of Purpose (MSc Applicants): MSc applicants are required to submit a statement of purpose outlining their reasons for pursuing the study, its relevance to the oil and gas industry, and the expected national development impact.
  • Research Proposal (PhD Applicants): PhD applicants must submit a research proposal of up to 6 pages covering the topic, introduction, literature review, research questions, methodology, data collection methods, expected outcomes, novelty, relevance to the industry, and appropriate references.
  • Exclusion of Final-Year Applicants: Postgraduate applicants in their final year of studies are not eligible to apply.
  • Shortlisting and Oral Interviews: Applicants who meet the requirements are shortlisted and invited for oral interviews as part of the final selection process for successful candidates.

If you’re looking to apply for this program, then you need to meet all of these requirements:

  • You should have a full-time admission letter into any Federal University in Nigeria.
  • Hold a minimum of Second-Class lower (2.2) in an Oil and Gas/Management-related field at the undergraduate level.
  • Your study research area must be relevant to the Oil and Gas industry.
  • Provide Certificate of indigeneship
  • Provide a NYSC certificate or Letter of exemption.
  • Attain at least a merit grade in a second-degree certificate in an Oil and Gas-related discipline.
  • Have at least 5 credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO results (obtained in not more than 2 sittings, with the two results preceding the first degree).

The selection process for the PTDF In-country Scholarship Scheme (ISS) Postgraduate category involves the following criteria and steps:

  • Evaluation of Class of degree, full academic transcripts, other professional qualifications acquired, and relevant publications referenced by applicants.
  • Consideration of membership in professional bodies.
  • Assessment of the viability of the study/research plan, applicable to PhD applicants.
  • Submission of a statement of purpose by Postgraduate (MSc) applicants, detailing the reasons for undertaking the study, the relevance of the proposed study to the oil and gas industry, and its expected impact on national development.
  • Submission of a research proposal by PhD applicants, not exceeding 6 pages and including the topic, introduction, literature review, research question(s), methodology, mode of data collection(s), expected outcome(s), novelty, relevance to the industry, and appropriate references.
  • Exclusion of Postgraduate applicants in their final year of studies.
  • Shortlisting and invitation of Postgraduate applicants who meet the requirements for oral interviews before the final selection of successful candidates.
