Benefits of SINGA Postgraduate Scholarship

The SINGA Postgraduate Scholarship is a lucrative opportunity offering you comprehensive support for up to 4 years. The support will entail the following benefits:

  • Full Tuition Fees: Coverage of all tuition fees for the duration of the program.
  • Monthly Sustenance Allowance: Includes CPF contributions where applicable.
  • Additional Allowances include:
  1. Computer allowance
  2. Book allowance
  3. Thesis allowance
  4. Conference allowance
  • Overseas Attachment Support: Financial support for up to 12 months for an overseas attachment.

Keep in mind that if you’re a successful mid-term AGS applicant, you will receive the same benefits as full-term AGS awardees from the point of the award. This will include benefits such as payment for all tuition and compulsory fees from the first year of study onwards.

NOTE: A STAR’s rates and allowances are subject to periodic adjustments.

Requirements for SINGA Postgraduate Scholarship

To be eligible for this program, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Country Eligibility: Open to all – Singaporeans as well as other nationals.
  • Degree Completion: If you’re not from Singapore, you will need to have completed or be on track to complete a degree at a Singapore-autonomous university.
  • Program Admission: You need to seek admission to a PhD or EngD program at an autonomous university in Singapore, but first, you must satisfy the criteria.
  • Academic Qualifications: You need to have pursued or are in the process of pursuing a relevant discipline and have obtained or be on track to receive an Honours degree (at least a 2nd Upper Class) or equivalent.
  • If you are in the last semester of your final year of undergraduate studies, you are still welcome to apply. However, you still need to obtain at least a 2nd Upper-Class Honours or equivalent result to be awarded the scholarship.
  • Research Interest: You need to demonstrate a strong interest in a research career.

For Mid-Term AGS Applicants:

  • Eligibility: Open to all – Singaporeans as well as other nationals.
  • Degree Completion: If you’re not from Singapore, you must have completed a degree program at a Singapore autonomous university.
  • University Enrollment: Must be enrolled in a Singapore autonomous university and complete at least one semester at the point of a scholarship application.
  • Academic Standing: Must be on track to attain excellent academic standing for the current degree.
  • Research Potential: Must show good research potential and/or achievements.
  • Referees: The current university supervisor must be one of the two academic referees.

NOTE: The listed eligibility requirements are not exhaustive. A STAR may implement additional selection criteria based on current scholarship policies, which can be amended at any time without prior notice.

Selection Process


  • Only those shortlisted will be notified of the interview details.
  • Shortlisted candidates will undergo two rounds of interviews.
