Fellowship Application Duration (Opening – Deadline)

This fellowship application process officially started on 8 April 2024.

The application process will close on 1 July 2024 (midnight CEST time).

Eligibility for TWAS Postgraduate Fellowship Programme

To qualify for the TWAS Postgraduate Fellowship Programme, applicants must fulfil the following requirements:

  • Educational Background: Applicants should have a university degree from a reputable college or university spanning at least 5 years of combined undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. In addition, that programme has to have either a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Mathematics. 
  • Age Limit: To be eligible, you should not be older than 35 as of 31 December (application year).
  • Nationality: Be from one of the developing countries and not India.
  • Acceptance by S.N. Bose Centre: Only candidates admitted to a department at the S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences will be considered for admission. So, be sure to check out the Centre’s official website (www.bose.res.in) to find a possible supervisor for the student’s research.
  • English Proficiency: You should display proficiency in English, regardless of whether you studied in English or another language other than English.
  • Return Commitment: An applicant should also guarantee that they will return to their home country upon completing this fellowship program.
  • Exclusive Commitment: During your fellowship programme, you cannot partake in other assignments. 
  • Financial Responsibility (your family): If your family will accompany you. Then you will be financially responsible for them during the duration of the fellowship programme.
  • Visa Status: The applicant should not have a visa either for immigrating temporarily or permanently to any developed country as well as India.

How to apply for TWAS Postgraduate Fellowship Programme

1. Achieve Preliminary Acceptance:

Applicants must secure an Acceptance Letter from S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences department before or by the application deadline. Keep in mind that, without this preliminary acceptance letter, your submission will not be considered for selection.

2. Access the Online Application Portal:

After getting the preliminary acceptance, you can now proceed with the application process.

Submit your application for the TWAS-SN Bose Postgraduate Fellowship Programme exclusively through their online portal. You can use the application sample forms provided below to learn how to complete the application process online.

POINT TO NOTE:

In the TWAS and OWSD portfolios, you can only apply for one programme per calendar year. This means you cannot visit other institutions under the TWAS Visiting Professor programs in the same year.

However, there is one exception: you may still apply for another programme only if you are the head of an institution inviting an external scholar under these programmes.
