Benefits of ZNF 2024 Annual Essay Competition

This is an essay competition, which means the top 3 winners will be rewarded. And so, the prizes for the winning essays are as follows:

  • 1st Prize – N50,000 (Fifty thousand Naira)
  • 2nd Prize – N40,000 (Forty thousand Naira)
  • 3rd Prize – N30,000 (Thirty thousand Naira)

In addition to the prizes above, the authors will also get 2 Honorable Mentions at N10,000 each.

Requirements ZNF Annual Essay Competition

If you’re looking to be part of the ZNF Annual Essay Competition, you should meet the following requirements:

  • You should be enrolled as an undergraduate student in any Nigerian university, whether private or public.
  • If by July 15, 2024, you would have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), then you will not be eligible to apply.
  • For your essay to qualify, your essay must conform to the specifications in the evaluation/review section below. Failure to meet these criteria will be disqualified.  
  • You are only allowed to make 1 submission.
  • Only essays submitted using this form will be considered unless granted by ZNF.
  • Sending essays directly to the foundation via email without prior permission is prohibited.

Essay Evaluation Process

For a complete review, a minimum of two reviewers will be required to review each essay. They will also assign scores (in percentages) based on the following criteria:

  • Detection of plagiarism will result in “Immediate Disqualification.
  • Adherence to essay guidelines = 10%
  • Organization/structure/logical coherence = 10%
  • Clear presentation of opportunities (with explanations) = 20%
  • Clear presentation of threats (with explanations) = 25%
  • Effective use of examples to support arguments = 10%
  • Accuracy in grammar and spelling = 15%
  • Strong and persuasive conclusions = 10%
